Junior State of America (JSA) Holds Annual Cabinet Retreat for Dedicated High School Students Elected Officials and Appointed Cabinet Members of Mid-Atlantic and North East States Congregate.
August 25, 2013 – Stamford, Connecticut – To kick off the upcoming year of Junior State of America (JSA),approximately eighty high school students from the Mid-Atlantic State (MAS) and the North East State (NES) came together at the Stamford Sheraton for Cabinet Retreat.
Statesmen who had been accepted to their national, state, or regional cabinet gathered together in Connecticut to begin working on their assignments for the upcoming JSA year. Cabinet Members were able to meet with their states, departments, and their own assigned cabinets to discuss what would be the main focus for the 2013-2014 year.
Students attending Cabinet Retreat discussed issues concerning expansion, publicity, fundraising, networking, and the fall one-day convention. Mayoral and Vice Mayoral cabinets have been planning for the fall one-day regional conferences, while Gubernatorial and Lt. Gubernatorial cabinets have been focusing on the fall state conventions.
Ben Reytblat, Governor of the North East State describes Cabinet Retreat not only as “a great opportunity to set the tone for the upcoming JSA year, but an exciting chance to strengthen the partnership between the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States.”
Cristian Vides, Governor of the Mid-Atlantic State shares his thoughts, “Cabinet Retreat has set a tone of energy and excitement for collaborative teamwork at levels of cabinet and across the state lines. The weekend was a step in the right direction for a year of progress.”
