The JSA academic year kicked off with a bang with this year’s annual Cabinet Retreat. The Cabinet Retreat calls together chosen cabinet officers every year to allow them to get to know each other and to get the JSA school year rolling! These dedicated JSA members met on August 30th and August 31th at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel in Connecticut, where they acquainted themselves with one another, and gained deeper insight into the effort it takes to run a JSA event.
The officers who were elected into Cabinet had a chance to begin their responsibilities for JSA together. Members were educated about their obligations and trained, leaving all attendees more knowledgeable and prepped for the impending year. They expressed their opinions on club growth, advertising, networking, and raising money. Furthermore, they bonded, established ties with one another, and became a tight-knit JSA family! In total, 102 JSA members attended, representing both the Mid Atlantic State and the Northeast State.
South Brunswick High School has four individuals in cabinet this year: Ahan Sikri, NJR Director of Debate, Abhishek Dutta, Editor in Chief of the NJR Star, our JSA President Hasin Tasneem, the Vice Mayoral Chief of Staff, and our Director of Debate Nikita Rednam, a NJR Director of Debate. Both Hasin and Nikita attended retreat. According to Hasin “South Brunswick JSA had a great time representing our school at retreat! This past weekend was a very successful start to the new year: members of cabinet were introduced to their jobs and trained on JSA initiatives in order to become informed statesmen. We met such wonderful hardworking people that makes me confident in saying the Mid Atlantic State and the New Jersey Region are in great hands for this upcoming year!". Nikita noted that “Cabinet retreat was an excellent, productive weekend in which I truly learned the behind the scenes work required to run a conference and had a great opportunity to meet new delegates from the Northeast State.” This event truly seemed like a successful commencement to a successful year.
